Dragon Ball FighterZ Trailer revealed 3 New Character

Over the summer, Bandai Namco held a closed beta for the upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ. The brief beta gave players a good taste of the game’s over-the-top antics. I thought it was fantastic. We were promised an open beta in January, and sure enough, we’re getting it. Today, Bandai Namco announced an open beta for January 14. On top of that, it also released a brand-new trailer featuring three combatants from the Dragon Ball Super anime series.

As reported by Gamespot, the open beta will be available for players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Though the beta is open to all, it is presumably for those who are subscribed to either Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus. The beta is set to begin at 12am PST / 3AM EST / 9 AM CET. It will end on January 16 at those same times. Those who pre-order the game either physically or digitally can participate in the open beta a full 24 hours early on January 13 at the aforementioned times.

In addition to the open beta news, Bandai Namco has also released a new trailer spotlighting three new fighters. These include Goku Black, Hit, and Beerus. If you’re not familiar with those names, that’s because they are all characters from Dragon Ball Super. Up until now, the roster for Dragon Ball FighterZ mainly consisted of classic characters from Dragon Ball Z. Dragon Ball Super characters were inevitable, but it is somewhat surprising it took this long for any to be announced. Their inclusion shows the game isn’t only for fans who’ve been with the franchise for decades.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is due to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 26. The game’s season pass will add six new characters post-launch. Pre-ordering any edition of the game will unlock Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta early.
